TRANSMISSION SYSTEM

TRANSMISSION SYSTEM

The term indicates it refers to the transfer of power.
This assembly includes a clutch , gearbox , propeller shaft,
differential , final drive shaft etc.

CLUTCH
A clutch is used for engaging or disengaging the engine from the driving wheels .
It enables you to change gears and slow down the car without stopping engine .
The various components of clutch are :
Flywheel
Clutch plates
Pressure  plates
Release bearing

FLYWHEEL
The flywheel is located at the rear of the engine and is bolted to the
crankshaft.
The clutch components are attached to it.

PRESSURE PLATE
It is a driven member.
Bolted on a fly wheel.
Exert or release the pressure against flywheel.

CLUTCH PLATE
It is a driven part.
Consist a round metal plate attached to splined hub.
Outer surface is covered with friction material and coil spring .

GEAR RATIO
Ratio of the number of teeth on output gear to the number of teeth on the input gear.
As gear ratio greater we get more torque and if smaller we get more speed at output.
Power=T*w

DIFFERENTIAL
The differential is a device that or a gear assembly between two shafts that permits the shafts to turn at different speeds (if necessary) while continuing to transmit torque .
It is used in axles to allow different rates of wheels rotation on curve.
